How To Install Commercial Wallpaper
If you are looking for a more durable premium wallpaper material for a commercial space or for home where you might get more traffic daily and objects might get moved around the wall more frequently, then commercial wallpaper will be a perfect choice. Being a thicker material, it is more durable against wear and tear, therefore, it will last longer in a commercial and public space such as cafes, hotels, retail spaces, beauty salons and more. If you are thinking about choosing this luxurious wallpaper material, then in this blog post we will share more about how to install premium commercial wallpaper and give you some tips and tricks for the installation process.
When it comes to commercial wallpaper, there are some similarities to the traditional wallpaper, as both of them come in the same sizes and have the same pattern scale as seen in the photo above. The installation is similar as commercial wallpaper, the same as traditional wallpaper is applied using glue or paste.
The material of commercial wallpaper is different from the traditional wallpaper and self-adhesive wallpaper as well. Not only it is a thicker and more durable material, but the premium commercial wallpaper has a luxurious canvas-linen texture that we can see in the photo above where the commercial wallpaper, self-adhesive wallpaper and traditional wallpapers are put next to each other. The wallpaper design seen in the photo above is the Watercolor Palms Leaf Wallpaper from the Palm Tree, Jungle And Tropical Wallpaper collection.
To install the wallpaper you will need:
-
The wallpaper of your choice;
-
Wallpaper paste or glue for permeable wallpaper;
-
Sponge;
-
Straight edge;
-
Craft knife;
-
Brush or roller;
-
Seam roller (optional);
-
Flexible smoothing tool with round corners.
As the first step we advise to lay out the wallpaper panels before the installation to check the positioning of the wallpaper panels. Another very important part is to find the level spot on the wall as walls are rarely 100% straight. The difference between traditional wallpaper and commercial wallpaper installation will be that when installing commercial wallpaper, you will need to apply the glue or paste to the back of the wallpaper, cover the panel completely and fold it using the booking method, by folding each end towards the middle with pasted sides together and let it rest for approximately 10 minutes. It is important to make sure that the edges are aligned for them not to dry out.
When the panel has rested for 10 minutes it is time to slide it into the position from top and make sure that it is straight. We strongly suggest leaving half an inch on top and bottom for trimming as the wall often can go slightly more up or down and this will ensure that the wall is fully covered in the end. If some glue gets on the design, immediately clean it off with a damp cloth or sponge. The premium commercial wallpaper design seen in the photo above is the Watercolor Palms Leaf Wallpaper from the Palm Tree, Jungle And Tropical Wallpaper collection.
During the installation use the smoothing tool to carefully and gently smooth the wallpaper from top to bottom, by smoothing the paper from middle out to each side and remove any air bubbles that might form.
The next step is to install the next panel. When applying the next panel, make sure that the pattern matches the previous roll at eye level and butt the seams tightly up next to each other. As with other wallpaper materials in Think Noir, the commercial wallpaper is designed to be installed without an overlap and instead side by side.
Make sure to remove any adhesive from the seams quickly with damp cloth. If you are looking for that perfect result, using a seam roller, roll the seams to ensure a good adherence to the wall. After that use a craft knife and a roller to carefully trim any excess wallpaper from top and bottom of the wall.
After the wall is complete, make sure to avoid any temperature changes for the next 24 hours to ensure the wallpaper adheres properly.
